Leon Mobley finds cultural connection in drumming
Leon Mobley’s first dream was to become an actor.
But even from birth, it seems he was destined for another career.
“If you ask my mother, she tells you that I started playing in the womb,” says the percussionist, who has worked with artists like Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Santana, The Fugees and Michael Jackson over the span of his eclectic career. “She and my father would wake up at nights after coming from the jazz clubs listening to music and I’d go off playing inside the womb.
“By the age of 4, my mother bought me a drum set because I banged and played on everything that I could.” more»
