10.21.09 Mother Pray
My sweet grandmother passed away Saturday afternoon. She was a wonderful lady who loved her savior with all of her heart. She taught children's Sunday school for over 50 years, and it was amazing to meet all of the people whose lives she had touched.
To all of her grandchildren she was never known as "granny" or "grandma" or any other cliche grandmother name; to us she was always our "Mom". The one constant thing that I could always depend on in my life was that Mom was awake at 4:30 every morning praying for her family. Even on the day before she died she said to me, "Meg, I pray for you everyday." I may not be as religious as she was, but I know that I am in tune with the spiritual world only because she was an influence on my life. I also know that God heard her prayers, and that is one of the reasons that I am so blessed today.
So, how does this relate to Ben? Well, at her funeral I chose to read the song "Mother Pray" as a poem. That song could have been written for her. Thank you Ben for such a magnificent song that means so much to me and my family.
