05.11.10 Just turned On - Missing my Lil'Bit

by joels

Over this past year I have been turned on to the music of Ben Harper. This past year and a half I have met my one true love and her inspiration and love had introduced me to the music of Ben Harper. While other forces are keeping us apart, the music of Ben and the memories of our love have kept me going through the daily struggles of our separation. Through this pain of the daily grind without her, the words of Ben Harper though painful at times keeps her dancing through my mind. Thank you Ben for the Lil' Bit of love that hopefully one day will be bring us together once again.

"Ben Harper plays guitar and sings on "If I Had My Way." The base of that song came from Blind Willie Johnson, and it was really difficult to get right. It was a country tune for a while. I had honestly given up on it. But Ben came down and said, "Let me get in there! I know just what to do!" He went in there and smoked the choruses, and I thought, "Now we've got a tune." It's one of my favorite songs on the record."
