News and Notes 2010

i'm back. hope everyone had a good holiday!

we named our first Axe of the Month Winner, JackHarper's Les Paul for December. what a killer story! and to kick the competition off right, we're also sending everyone who entered in December's Axe an autographed "White Lies For Dark Times" songbook. get your axes ready for January and beyond! ben will be uploading his national steel guitar from the 30's in the next few days. sorry for the delay -- he and R7 have been rehearsing with Ringo Starr getting ready for some promo!

over the holidays we worked out a bunch of kinks in the site, and added some new features. first, the site should load faster. it's a tough balance between performance and functionality, because there are so many features like Google Maps and Facebook Connect that take extra time to load. next, you'll notice we cleaned up the comments in Axes and NBA. plus you can sort videos by category, and also search the News Archive by Month/Year.

2010 will be a busy year!! R7 is backing Ringo Starr, then a video for "Lay There & Hate Me" is coming out and we're starting a pre-sale for "Live at the Montreal International Jazz Festival" CD/DVD due out in March. i've heard a few mixes and they are slamming!! it's like you're right there.

stay tuned!

Thanks for including "Fly One

Thanks for including "Fly One Time" and "Faithfully Remain" with the purchase of the CD/DVD combo. That was a nice touch. "Fly One Time" is great live. Still baffles me it was left off the disc since it is both more marketable than say "Up To You Now" to the casual fan and the dedicated fans already have a good live version of "Up To You Now."

I'm dissapointed that "Fly

I'm dissapointed that "Fly One Time" was left off the audio disc. It's the one song I won't have a live version of, and my favorite one at that. I'll pay the extra to get "Good Times, Bad Times" from iTunes, just wish Fly One Time was AVAILABLE in any audio form. btw- I have bootlegs, but the sound quality isn't the same. Not sure about legality here, but I don't really care since I buy EVERYTHING that is offered and from this website.

March 9th is the release date

March 9th is the release date on the iTunes pre-order.

The iTunes version has 8 of the 11 album tracks - missing Fly One Time (ugh!), Skin Thin, and The Word Suicide. Has 6 other songs - Faster Slower Dissapear Come Around (AKA Coming Up Easy), Red House, Another Lonely Day, Under Pressure, Serve Your Soul, & Good Times, Bad Times. So 14 total songs are on it for $9.99. Good collection except for no "Fly One Time". However, according to the Amazon link "Fly One Time" and "Skin Thin" are on the CD on the CD/DVD combo.

March 9th makes sense because that is a Tuesday (the normal weekday that new releases are put out).

I wonder when the pre-sale will start?

March 8 is the release date

March 8 is the release date on the Ben Harper France website.

Here is the songlist per all music.com -

It looks like all songs are on both the CD and DVD except "Good Times, Bad Times" but I'm not sure whether its omitted on the CD or DVD.
