February 16, 1994 I was a staff writer for the CSUS paper the Hornet. I was asked by my editor to review a new artist. This was my first exposure to Ben Harper and I was floored. It was a mostly acoustic sit down show in the Redwood Room on campus. Ben must have played at least seven different variety of guitars. The set consisted of songs off the first album. I vividly remember the sound being unique in the era of grunge and fading glam rockers. The music was so pure and real it honestly touched my soul. Since that show I have seen Ben Harper and the IC more than ten times. Much love to you guys. Thanks for being there at that time. I am grateful to have been exposed to something so good.
