Guest Set
Ben headlined the second night of the festival with a solo acoustic performance. He was joined by Freebo (acoustic bass) and Jeff Berkley of the Joel Raphael Band (djimbe, percussion) on "Glory & Consequence" and "Mama's Got A Girlfriend Now." "Beloved One" was dedicated to Roy Orbison, who was an inspiration for the song. Before "The Woman In You," Ben teased riffs of "Touch From Your Lust." Later, the entire ensemble of artists took the stage for Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" and Bruce Cockburn's "Waiting For A Miracle."

This was the best show! So much love so much raw Ben!
Verde Valley Music Fest...great energy...Ben headlined...other acts playing that same day were Michelle Branch, Ulali, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Indigenous (great band!), Jackson Browne and the Indigo Girls. This was one of the most intimate Harper shows I have yet to experience. Picture the red rocks encircling the whole stage; sitting on green grass and the blue sky lighting up the day into the night. Ben was on top of his act that day...vocal stylings were incredible. Best version of Please Bleed--it sent me reeling. He had a sore butt from riding horses through the canyons and such, but that didn't affect his playing one bit. The finale was "Not Fade Away" with everyone from the two day fest. Been to a lot of Harper shows: this was tops.
