Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals Setlist 1969-12-31 - East Coast Blues & Roots Festival - Byron Bay, Australia

Headliners at the second night of the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival, the band delivered a very spirited performance; hard rockin' the way the Aussies like it! "Oppression/Get Up Stand Up" had the crowd saluting while "Breakin' Down" featured a bass solo, a drums versus percussion duel and a whistling solo from Juan! Ben got the crowd bouncing by bouncing himself during "Steal My Kisses", which went into a funk groove, into "Like A King", which then became a huge extended jam. Ben's "throne" was then taken off, and he stood up with his fist in the air to sing "I'll Rise."

When I hear you I can feel my soul.
Thank you for the beautiful gift-day in the beach in Byron Bay before the concert. And thank you for the concert. And thank you because I have memories now from the past.

What words are there that can describe how the Innocent Criminals leave you feeling? There is something so so sooo special about these guys. Standing in that one spot for 10 hours was well worth it. A HUGE night and I'd do it all again anytime.I caught David's sweat towel. Thankyou. Jesus Loves You

What an amazing end to 4 days of great music. After spending 12 hours (10 in the same spot) waiting for Ben, I was thoroughly rewarded, from the moment he took the stage to the moment he left it, it was a totally enthrawling experience. Can't wait for him too come back our way

It doesn't matter how many times you listen to his CD's or how often you see him live, his voice still takes your breath away. It was just a packed tent full of people completely captivated by Ben and his music. The way he 'feels' the music is part of why his live performances are so unforgettable. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

thank-you Ben....what a way to end the Blues fest. for 2001, thousands left that show with memories that will last a lifetime and i know that i left feeling empowered, what a gift this man has for music...this man is a teacher, just as Jimi Hendrix, Pete Tosh and Bob Marley have changed lives in the past...every time i see Ben Harper in Aus i am amazed at the energy that eminates not only from the innocent criminals but from the crowd as well, hope you come back next year!!!
