This was my first Ben Harper show. I didn't even know who Jack Johnson was even when I was watching him open up for Ben. I do remember digging him and thinking to myself this guy is going to be big. I am writing this review bc I just scored pit seats to the show coming up in September. I have seen Ben multiple times since and it's really cool to reflect on how my life has changed since I first saw him back in '01. This show completly blew my mind. Sexual Healing was the highlight for me at this show. I still get cold chills thinking about it. We had pit seats for this show also and after the second encore Ben came down to the end of the stage and slapped high fives with me and other people in the pit. The best seats I have ever had for a show and I am superstoked to have basically the same ones 7 years later. I first saw Ben as a 21 year old kid in '01 and now get to see him as a 28 year old married, father 7 years later. I'm so grateful that Ben Harper continues to evolve and tour so that guys like me can re-live a little of my carefree college days.
On Sept. 10 I will be in the third row pit seats dressed up in a seersucker....so stop by if you want to "burn one down"...some things never change.
got to meet ben at his bus after the show in louisville. he goes out of his way to please his fans..the whole evening was magical...thank you ben.
This was the fourth time that I have seen Ben, and must say that it was one of the best. For starters, Jack Johnson was one hell of an opening act. It was the first time that I had seen Jack perform, but it won't be the last. Ben's setlist was flawless, as he evoked every possible emotion that he could have from my friends and I. The highlight for me was the acoustic encore. I have never before seen someone have the complete and total attention of everyone in the venue, but Ben did it. His live shows are the reason that he is my favorite musician in the world. If you ever have the opportunity to seen Ben live, don't pass it up. You'll be sorry. -Dave
Ben Harper & TheInnocentCriminals with special guest Jack Johnson was excellent at The Palace. I was moving out of Louisville that night and before I left I got tickets to see Harper and Johnson after hearing Johnson was going to be playing. The Palace was excellent as the wall were covered with statues and the ceiling had stars that made the scenery come out making you think you were outside. My friend Beth and I got a parking space right outside the doors and we burned two down before going inside. Johnson had an incredible set list and I was right up front in tune with Johnson. When Harper came out I pulled out the camera I had waited to use. He was incredible and the highlight of the show was "Roses From My Friends" and his anthem of "The Woman in You" which we did and the atmosphere for Harper was nothing I ever seen in all my years of traveling to concerts. I felt wonderful experiencing the concert. It was one concert that I could relate Harper with Bob Marley as everyone including Harper I believe was on the same level. It was the best feeling in a long time and it definitely beat out the Kentucky Derby two days before. 10 of my friends were going to get tickets but in the end it was only Beth and I and I know they missed out a concert they will never ever experience.
Now I will put Harper and Johnson in my section of music legends for they made an experience for the crowd of Louisville that no one that was inside the Palace will forever forget. Music like Harper and Johnson will always continue to unite the world and the crowds inside their concerts.
WHOA!!! Harper definetely kicks ass!! He is by far the best muscian i have ever heard!! Harpers words and his music definetely touched my soul!
I didn't start to listen to Ben until a year ago, and I can honestly say that his music has changed my life. He is the epitome of passion, heart, and soul. His performance at the Palace was simply incredible, and a moment burned into my memory forever.
I saw Ben Harper for the first time at the Palace in Louisville. The show was so awesome. Ben is one of the best musicians around, and the Innocent Criminals are such a great band. It was the best concert I've ever seen.
This was the first time I've had the chance to see Ben. I was amazed by the power he commanded over the crowd with the music. Total silence during a few accoustic songs, it ws very personal.
What can i say? I have been to alot of very excellent concerts (including Ben before) and i've never been to a concert that was this good. The set list was absolutely amazing. God Fearing Man was the highlight for me. Manic Depression was incredible and the solos were insane! The whole band was into it from the beginning and they were playing incredibly. I was surprised that they played Wicked Man and Remember > Superstition. Overall a surreal experience.
Second time ive seen Ben. Even better than the first. Absolutely amazing setlist. And Jack Johnson kicks ass. One of the best openening acts ive seen. If you havent heard him, you definately should
first time I was able to catch Ben live. I had a great time, and the show was outstanding.
