As close as I've come to a religious experience in many, many years. Thank you, Ben. And thank you Ellen, for bringing up Ben to be such a beautiful person. You two were amazing together. *tears*

An acoustic evening with Ben Harper was missing one thing...a campfire. It was very reminiscent of hanging out with a great friend and jamming to great tunes and great stories. There are too many metaphors (e.g. the glove that forms perfectly to your hand) to describe the warm, comfortable experience that was had at Bridges Auditorium last night. Mr. Harper pulled it off again, singing and telling stories to a couple of thousand of his closest, home-town friends. His performance displayed the diversity of his talents. He started off with his banjo, and some eclectic instrumentals, the ever present dulcimer to a four string Ukelele. A marathon set that concluded with two encores and some tunes with his most-talented, and famous mom.Mother of three talented men. Hey Ben, if you take her out on the road with you, you're probably guaranteed to sell out at all of your venues...;-) All I can say is "Hallelujah" which he so covered expertly and soulfully, as expected. Looking forward to the new album as well with your collaborative effort with Ellen!! Best wishes and hope to see you again soon in So Cal!! Love to see a Harper Family Clan Jam--say at the folk Music Festival 2014... peace out!!

Hi Jake-

Glad you enjoyed the show! What time did Ben take the stage at Claremont on Nov. 6th? It says that doors opened at 7 PM. I have tickets to the Santa Barbara show next Friday but have something going on that will keep me in San Luis Obispo (1 1/2 hours away) until 6:30.

Any info you can give would be great... Thanks!!

My sisters know how much I adore, appreciate, respect and understand Ben's Music since 1995, in which I asked them to get me tickets for my 40th birthday. Since I have drawn Ben's music to them as well, they didn't mind at all and got me the 4 tickets for me and the three of them. Four Mexican/American sisters going to see a Ben Harper concert!!! I was looking forward to spending this time with all three sisters and Ben, but the oldest, Joanna did not end up going, so then there were three. My two gorgeous sisters, Kristy and Suzie and I were probably noticed by some as we were loud, excited, happy, friendly and attracted to open souls. In which we met a few and got a few annoyed stares as well..wonder why...that usually happens when your minority..lol but Anyway, it didn't stop us from singing along and crying and laughing together respectfully (we tried) during the show. We would not let anyone stop us from feeling what we were feeling during this spiritual time with the one and only Ben. I am sure he would appreciate us. Actually, I know he would if he knew us. Anyway Ben, continue to look out for the Mexican sisters wearing Turquoise at your concerts to bring strength and positive energy. So whomever we annoyed last night may you see us again at one of his shows and know we are there to feel and enjoy the music energy just like everyone else. We just might enjoy it a little differently..because we are "different people" like George Lopez puts it.. wink..LIke Maya Angelou quotes, "We are all more alike then different" That's the truth. Anyway, thanks for another wonderful experience Ben and for talking and singing to us last night. It was fun and great to see you so happy to be home and singing with your beautiful mother..you two are twins up there!!!! See ya next time we love you.. The four Latina sisters, Melissa, Joanna, Christina and Suzanne.( God willing you will meet us one day!! :) Paz y Amor!!!

What an amazing show!
Ben draws me into the emotion of every song and time disappears. Opening with "Welcome to the cruel World" set a reflective tone that permeated throughout the show. He is a prophet.

I scored 2 incredible 5 row seats, center Orchestra, to this show and now my wife can't go. So bummed. I am looking to trade for the 11/15 show in Santa Barbara. Want to trade? Thanks.

yoganowmark's picture

I can trade but the seats are not as good as yours maybe I can give you a little extra money too you can reach me at mark@evolationyoga.com

I am so excited for this show! I have 2 tickets in the 10th row, Orchestra Right Center. As a long-time fan, I would rather my other ticket go to another true fan, rather than drag along a friend who won't fully appreciate it. If there's someone out there looking for a solo ticket, let me know :)

Iamthebbb's picture

Hey everyone,

I purchased an extra pair of tickets for this show for a buddy and now he can't make it. Would like to offer the tickets to another fan before I try and sell them online. 3rd row orchestra really good seats. Let me know if someone is still in need of tickets.

Got 2nd row tix. Will be there (AND Santa Barbara AND San Diego AND LA) with the whole B family.

If Ben's taking requests, please play "Thank Me In The Morning."

I've got a rough recording of it from a YouTube video.

Never heard it live. This site says you've never played it live.

Brilliant song. Just perfect (like most of his songs).

Would love to see Ben break this sucker out for a really enthused hometown crowd.

I just made a playlist of all of his unreleased songs. If this were an album, it would be better than everything else out there today. So good man.

Since we're all (good) crazy fans, I'd like to hear all of these at this Claremont show:

Better Than I Deserve
Giving Up Your Ghost
Please Break The Silence (one of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard)
So Fool For Love
Trying Not To Fall In Love With You
Wide Open Light

...and Thank Me In The Morning.

All of them.

It's going to be a special show no matter what.

SOOOO many great songs.

Ben will be playing at his hometown, local hero and an incredible musician. This will be my 20th shows, it doesn't get any better than live solo acoustic set. Bring it Ben!! Cant wait for the show!!

aperlst's picture

Oh my my. Just scored a pair in the 9th row. This is Ben's hometown show, so you KNOW he is going to bring the heat!! I have seen Ben several times, with full band, both the Innocent Criminals and also with the Relentless 7. Seen him jam electric and acoustic, but never SOLO ACOUSTIC! This is going to be a real treat, to see Ben in such an intimate venue and so close to my home. This is a show that is not to be missed!

My wife got me these tickets for my birthday and was lucky enough to get orchestra pit, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present!!

Iamthebbb's picture

I got pit tickets as well. Should be a good anniversary night for the wife and I

Saw Ben Harper at Bridges Auditorium once before, it was an incredible night. I went with my daughter and we had a blast. I love his acoustic work so this concert will be a fantastic treat. Can't wait.
