Streetside Records
"I was working as a DJ for KCOU my freshmen year at the University of Missouri. I was sent to Streetside records to interview Luscious Jackson but when I arrived I was told they were stuck in traffic and would be running late. We had all of our remote equipment there so I was anxious to do some reporting. I noticed a man seting up something in the corner of Streetside Records and the store manager told me that the man's name was Ben Harper and he was not only going to perform an in-store but was the opening act for Luscious. I approached the man and he graciously agreed to do the interview (of course, after all it was Ben). We talked about where he was from, his sound and influences, touring, and our shared love for classic Adidas sneakers. We talked for about 5 minutes and then he sat down on a couch and played an accoustic set. Ben was accompanied by Leon Mobley and Oliver Charles, who both played percussion. He played 'Like a King', 'Oppression', and 'Pleasure and Pain.'" - Bryan Terry.
